Summary:
This book tells the story of the forced relocation of the Cherokee nation by President Andrew Jackson to the Oklahoma territory.

Teaching Ideas:

After reading excerpts from the book students will be instructed to imagine that they are a part of the Cherokee Nation being forced from their land on the trail of tears. The students will be instructed to write journal entries telling the story of the trip to their reservation in the Oklahoma Territory.
